Vaccinations

Childhood immunisations

Childhood immunisations are provided at the practice by the practice nurses, and your child should be routinely invited for these.  If you think this has not been done, please contact the practice.  For more information on the Childhood immunisation schedule please click here .

Travel Vaccinations

Prior to travel, we recommend that you have a look at the Fit for Travel NHS website which gives comprehensive travel health information, specific to your destination.  This includes recommendations on which vaccinations are recommended or required.

You can get more specific advice by using our eConsultations service, with a reply within one working day.  Click here for travel advice.

If you need vaccinations from us, you should ideally book an appointment at least two months prior to travel.  Any vaccinations given in the practice for the purpose of travel are are free of charge, but please note that we do not provide vaccinations against:

  • Yellow fever
  • Japanese encephalitis
  • Hepatitis B (unless travelling for more than 6 months)
  • Rabies

(If you need these vaccinations, you need to pay for them at a travel clinic, such as the nearby ‘Well Travelled’ clinic, which is run by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.)

Our practice nurses can provide information regarding malaria prophylaxis, mosquito avoidance, and other general travel advice.

Malaria prophylaxis generally requires a private prescription, meaning you pay for the actual medication in the pharmacy (as opposed the standard NHS prescription change).  We do not charge you for issuing the private prescription.

Occupational vaccinations

Please note we do not provide occupational health services.  Vaccinations for occupational purposes, such as Hep B, should be obtained either via your employer’s occupational health service, or from a private provider such as the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, or Spire Hospital.

HPV vaccination

This vaccine, against the human papilloma virus, is routinely offered to all girls aged 12-13 to reduce future risk of cervical cancer.  More information here.

You may notice that our online consultation provider has recently changed from E-consult to Blinx Healthcare, however this has not impacted how we process your requests. Please continue to submit online consultations using our new platform and your query will be reviewed the same day.
